When you start to look for your new television set you will be confused and you will be amazed. All the television companies try and capture the eyes of the buyers, it is natural and normal, but the differences in quality and the price will be pretty significant, and if you want to get out of the shop with some money to spend on other things, you better start thinking of comparing HDTV‘s, so you will buy the one that is appropriate for you and your budget.

The best thing to do is actually go to some shops that have a few HDTV sets placed and working on them, so you can start and actually looking at the picture they project and see what you like, and what you dislike. The good thing about making these kind of choices is that they are natural choices, you will go for what you like, and not what the sales person or the details specifications will try and tell you. It is very hard to argue with a sentence like “I just like that one better”.

Naturally I would not advise you to buy the HDTV in the first shop you walk into, unless they got some really impressive sale going on, try and compare not only prices but the actual TV and their quality as you see it. If the shop doesn’t have the high definition television working, ask if they can turn it on for you to see how it looks. Don’t be shy, they will make some nice money on your potential purchase.

Once you are in the shop you should be focus don really testing the HDTV, you should think about a few things, the amount of light in the room, the colors of the hdtv and the overall picture quality, the best thing to do is to start from the basic, the normal output of the television, you look at any of the regular TV channels to see how does the basic output looks like. The next step is to ask for a HDTV channel, so you can see how would that look, remember that this is what you are here for and try and spend at least a few minutes looking at the screen, do not rush or let the sales person change channels quickly.

The ultimate testing can be done using a high quality output source like a DVD, try and ask for a really good animation film, or a film with an action sequence (they always have those around the shop, it increases sales) and watch it on the hdtv, if the colors are shape and natural, and the brightness is good you can tell that you got something you like.

Don’t forget that when you test an HDTV in the shop it is nowhere close to the conditions you will have at home, the sound system and optimization will probably be less efficient, the room will not have as much light as a store has and there will be no sales person pushing you to buy next to you.

In February 2009, there’s going to be a small revolution in the way we watch TV in America. The FCC, a government agency which controls TV broadcast standards, is going to require all over-the-air broadcasts to be in a digital format, rather than analog. This change won’t affect most people, but anyone who is still using an “analog only” TV set with its trusty rabbit-ears antenna will be forced to upgrade their gear.

The reason it’s sort of a big deal has to do with compatibility. In the very beginning of TV broadcasting, everything was broadcast in black and white, which was no problem since every TV was a black-and-white TV. Then in 1953, the FCC adopted a set of standards detailing how color TV would be broadcast, and how color TV sets would work. The good thing about these standards was that they were backwards-compatible: you could still use your old black-and-white set to watch the new color shows. They wouldn’t be in color on your set, of course, but at least you could watch them.

The new digital standards, however, won’t be backwards-compatible. If your set isn’t capable of receiving a digital signal, it’s simply going to become an expensive paperweight. The good news is that it’s easy to figure out if your set can accept digital signals, and if not, you’ll just have to attach a digital-to-analog converter box to make everything work. And if you’ve been thinking about upgrading to a new HDTV (High Definition Television) anyway, all HDTVs will accept digital input, so now is as good a time as any to take the plunge.

If you’re unsure about your TV, check for the word “digital” anywhere on the set, as in “digital tuner”, “digital receiver”, “DTV”, or “ATSC”. If you see any of these markings on the set it can probably handle digital, and you’ll just have to find the setting on your TV or remote that sets the input to digital.

If you have an analog-only set and you don’t want to upgrade, you will need a converter box in 2009. Luckily, the government has set up the Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Coupon Program for just such an issue. Every household in America can get up to two $40 coupons toward the purchase of a box.

The more exciting way to deal with the change, though, is to upgrade your TV to the latest and greatest technology. HDTV information abounds on the internet, and a great way to get a handle on it is to visit an HDTV tutorial website to get your bearings and make a confident decision on your purchase. You’ll want to get familiar with terms like Plasma, LCD, 1080p resolution, HDMI cables, and many many more before handing over your cash.

samsung has earned a good name for itself in the field of home appliance electronics manufacturing. Their line of HDTV sets is a feather in their cap. There all sorts of models launched by the giant – Plasma, LCD and DLP. Although the initial prices are high in accordance with the market trend, it is expected to dip soon.

The new range of models emphasize larger screens and higher resolutions like a 42″ monitor, 10000:1 contrast ratio and a 549 billion colors display. The soaring contrast ratio of the latest models might portray an interesting statistical picture, but the consumer needs to understand that the human eye has a limit of perceiving images and its visual system cannot discern the offered resolutions. Basically, the higher the contrast ratio, the better the display is, but anything beyond the eye’s range doesn’t really make much sense.

samsung offers a number of models to choose from. The basic difference in all the models are their types, size, price and add-on features like input/output slots and ports, PC card slots or SD slots, more speakers, hidden speakers etc. The most popular ones among buyers are models ranging from 42″ to 63″ with customized mini details like in-built cards (which discard the need of external cable box) and hi-fi speaker systems. The presence of the HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) and component ports is a must for every HDTV set. It is to ensure a good picture quality from the DVD player.

Some of the best-seller HDTVs in the market are the LCD line, which is a good option lower cost in lieu of a ‘smaller’ screen. The LCD comes in a range of 32″ to 46″. The 46″ LN-S4692D model is a flat-panel display on a swivel stand, which provides a 178 degrees view angle. Its contrast ratio is a decent 5000:1. The smaller 40″ LN-S4051D version is usually used by gamers using an Xbox. A contrast ratio of 4000:1 and 8 ms response times in the set is ideal for both gaming and TV use owing to its undetectable motion blur.

The DLP style TV models of Samsung come in a variety of small sizes -50″ HL-S5065 and the larger- 71″ HL-R7178W models offering excellent picture quality. The largest of all – the 71″ HL-7178 contains a digital cable-ready card and 1080p video support scoring over the competitor, Panasonic. Even the smaller versions like the 56″ HL-S5688W are designed to provide excellent quality 1080p pictures and come equipped with a 14,400 rpm color wheel which minimizes the ‘rainbow’ effects.

The specifications indicate the letters – ‘i’ and ‘p’. The ‘I’ model uses the interlacing illumination technique in which the pixel rows brighten every other line, painting the complete screen in two passes. The ‘p’ type illuminates in a single pass across the screen. The ‘p’ types are known to offer a superior picture, but interlaced models are not inferior. Although some older ‘i’ models suffered from some flicker with interlacing, this is being rectified now.

Many less expensive HDTVs come without an in-built HD tuner or HD-ready types. This deficiency is overcome by tuners provided by the cable or satellite boxes without a performance loss. HD-ready are generally less expensive, all other things being equal.

The cost price of an HDTV is defined by the screen size and resolution and some extra add-ons. A careful cost and functions comparison must be made before going in for any TV set.

Planning to buy a Screen guard or screen protector for your TV such as LCD, LED or plasma is a nice and smart decision. Not like the TV with picture tube the Modern flat screen TV are very much impressive and worth spending money. As the old TV had a picture tube and may be it could bear a stroke of even a hammer. Now even a slight tap or a little hit with a flying toy can cost you to buy a whole new TV worth Thousands of dollars. So your decision is good but there are various brands available over the internet and you must choose wisely that which one to buy that is cost effective and do not take away the high picture quality.

You must consider some points while deciding to buy you a screen protector. The first one is related to protection as the reason for buying a TV screen Protector is securing the TV screen with scratches and cracks. In this the material of the protector and its thickness have the main role there are many companies that will give you a screen protector which is very thin near to one by eight of an inch saying that clarity will be high. But the thickness varies as the size of TV varies as for a small TV very thin protector will work as fine as the thicker one. But when it comes to larger size like 32″ or 54″ thickness plays a major role.

Secondly the flexibility of the material used is important as it must absorb the impact. A much flexible screen protector could even strike the TV itself when hit by something. So it should be as thick to absorb the impact and as Rigid as not to strike the TV when hit by anything. As we want the maximum protection to our TV but we cannot compromise with the picture quality because this is the one which gives you pleasure of watching. But this point is kept by all the TV screen manufacturer company because it should not give you a reflex look while watching.

Mainly the screen protector material are plastic of high grade which has the required quality of rigidness and flex with glassy look which in turn provide you the best TV screen protection. The material is Optical grade acrylic which is used by most of these companies this product is developed by NASA. It has a quality of reducing the glare of the Screen while give you a sharp look as you are watching you TV with no protector installed. This Protector is installed with the help of tapes to you TV matching the front panel so it does not look odd.

So summarizing all if you are going to buy a TV screen Protector then first look for the Level of protection and secondly the picture quality you are getting after installing Your TV screen Protector. One thing keep in mind there are various cheep products over the internet that guarantee for the quality products but they are not value for money products. You should also look for the customer reviews of the company you are going to buy your protector.

Many of us are contemplating the purchase of a High Definition Television this winter. One of the main reasons to buy now is the upcoming Super bowl football game. We like having friends and family over to watch the game, and what could be nicer than to see it on a new large screen TV. As long as we are upgrading, why not get High Definition as well. But what to buy? With today’s fast technology changes, how can we make a wise investment? Some things to consider would be screen size, where will it go in the house, and will you buy a particular brand to show off -or will cost be a factor in your decision? What about the different types, Plasma or LCD? Who will deliver it, and who will install it correctly?

First, let’s take time to measure where the new TV will go. I had a friend plan on a very large screen size to fit inside an enclosed credenza. When we examined the TV he wanted before purchasing it, we discovered that it needed a minimum of 4″ around the sides and from the wall for proper ventilation. He had to be satisfied with a smaller TV. Positioning the TV on the wall gives you a much greater option for space. Be aware of sunlight from windows blinding your view. Keep in mind the safety of the TV. Large screen TV’s can become a big target for hands, feet and flying objects. Most warranties do not cover abuse.

Brand decisions can be extremely costly. However, with sales and online price comparisons, you can save more from a discount TV store. If you buy a new TV, you will still get the full warranty and accessories, just as if you purchased it from your local department store.

LCD seems to gain popularity over a Plasma TV and you won’t have the recharging worry in the future. Both have a great picture, the higher 1080p resolution being the most expensive. The 720p and 1080i models are also very acceptable, providing they have a good contrast ratio. Most TV’s sold today come with a manufactures limited warranty for one year. You can buy additional warranty policies that cover beyond the original manufacturers warranty even if you have purchased from a discount TV store.

You can bring it home yourself, but keep in mind that most manufactures recommend that you keep the TV upright during delivery. You will need the right vehicle to accommodate this. If you are mechanically inclined, you can install the required brackets for a wall installation, but I would recommend having a friend help you lift or move the TV in order to do it safely.

You now have a pretty good picture of what to expect when buying and installing a large screen HDTV. Proper planning for the location, screen size, cost, type of screen, and the installation, will save you in the long run. Shop around, go online, check the discount TV stores and get some comparison pricing for your best buy. You can save time and money by making the right decision.

With blockbuster movies like Avatar, Coraline, and Up, many of us are getting hooked on the new 3D movies trend. There are many more coming as the industry gets excited by new developments in 3D technology – developments that don’t make you look as dorky, having to sport a pair of thick glasses or the old red and blue paper framed ones. In fact, Microsoft recently announced that they’ve created a new lens that would get rid of 3D glasses altogether.

The new lens is thinner at the bottom than at the top and it steers light towards the viewer’s eyes by turning light emitting diodes on and off. The diodes are located at the bottom edge of the lens, and when combined with a backlight, it can show different images to different viewers, or create a stereoscopic effect by slightly altering the images to a person’s left eye and right eye.

Hollywood is reportedly dumping large amounts of money into producing 3D movies these days, and there is definitely a renaissance that’s happening as younger movie goers discover the fun of 3D and older ones can revisit the format which was, until recently, relegated to nostalgic and vintage theaters. The market for 3D televisions and home entertainment systems is expected to grow from 2.5 million sets shipped in 2010 to 27 million in 2013 – a giant increase.

If companies like Microsoft and others are able to then create a 3D effect without the glasses, this could be mean an even bigger boom for the industry, making the whole process easier, more comfortable, and more convenient.

The problem with many other 3D systems is that, while they don’t’ require glasses, the viewer needs to be in a certain spot relative to the screen in order to experience the effect. Otherwise, the screen just looks fuzzy and out of focus. But Microsoft’s prototype can actually project 3D to two viewers at the same time and it doesn’t matter where you sit.

Another pretty incredible feature is that it can supposedly project ordinary 2D video to up to four people in the room simultaneously – it uses a camera to track viewers’ positions in the room and can steer light towards them. The lens is also extremely thin, which means it can be easily incorporated into a standard flat screen television, which of course have become extremely popular in TV-watching households.

Why might you, or anyone, for that matter, hope to buy a samsung UN55B8000 LED HDTV ? The past successes of some people inspire other people to try. Many people are adverse to new suggestions, prefer to keep trying with all the traditional solutions, even though they do not deliver the results. Some don’t try simply because they lack up-to-date info. Often people are kept back by their anxiety about the unknown. Sometimes they just really don’t understand how to start. Sometimes, they don’t try because they don’t know that it is now possible. They do not understand the benefits that those who succeed usually gain.

When one really understands how it operates, the uncertainties and misgivings fade and tend to diminish and disappear. Understanding is key. Via looking at the benefits and drawbacks of buy a samsung UN55B8000 led HDTV, let’s have a look at three argument points in favor:

First, the quality of the picture. Yes, your objection that the price is high is an excellent observation. Nevertheless, we have to have a look at all alternatives. There is a 35% discount available for those who follow through.

Second of all, the 55 inches screen makes all the money. Moreover, You can mount the TV set on the wall, even above the fireplace. And, even more, your friends you’ll come to you to watch their favorite program

Third and last, the LED technology has made it possible to make this TV set only 1.2 inch thin. Which gives you the advantage that giving you a few hints on what the samsung 8000 series can do. Once more, take into account that you can have the best picture quality on a 55 inch screen which is only 1.2 inch deep and also has Internet capabilities!

Now pause a moment and simply consider those reasons. Are they not good reasons to buy a Samsung un55b8000 led HDTV ? In all seriousness and honesty, contemplate it for the moment. Can you really ignore all those reasons?

They have certainly applied to many other people. How do you resist what others found to be impossible to resist? Perhaps someday you also will find it useful to buy a Samsung un55b8000 led HDTV.

If you are a television connoisseur, then you have most likely watched the evolution of this product as it began in the 1950′s with a tiny screen mounted inside a huge cabinet with black and white pictures.

I’m writing this guide after being asked a few times on ways to connect a laptop to a TV. People want to achieve this for several reasons. First, it’s great for presentations at work, school, or home. It’s also convenient for viewing pictures and videos to friends, watching DVDs, and it is now even being used for viewing Blu-ray and other high definition content on the HDTV.

First, we want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your laptop when it comes to displaying it on the TV.

If you have an HDTV with HDMI inputs, check if your laptop has an HDMI output. If it does, you’re in luck! Your HDTV can display from your laptop in HD resolutions. All you need is an HDMI cable to connect them. If your HDTVs HDMI inputs are used up already. An HDMI switch would be the best solution for you. We supply switches that can connect up to 5 different HDMI sources to 1 HDMI input.
If you don’t have an HDMI output on the laptop, check if it has a DVI output. Some ASUS, and Dell laptops have them. If you do, you can connect your laptop to an HDTV with an HDMI to DVI cable. They are both digital cables so this will produce the same HD resolutions as a standard HDMI cable.
If your laptop doesn’t have HDMI or DVI out, it should have a VGA output. Connecting with VGA is capable of high resolutions. However, different TVs support different resolutions with VGA. You must check the maximum resolution your TV model supports with VGA.
Pretty much all laptops come with an S-Video output. It’s not going to be as great of a picture, but it will certainly do the job with an S-Video cable.

After you have connected your chosen cable, boot up your laptop and see if it has detected your TV. If not, you have to go into your display properties and look for the settings that will enable your TV to display from your laptop. Where to find the setting will vary depending on your graphics card (just look around). If you are having trouble getting your TV to show a picture, make sure you have updated the display drivers on your laptop. Now you’re probably going to want sound from something other than your laptop speakers. So you can choose to output it to your TV, or blast it from your home theater audio receiver.

The best way to connect audio to your TV or receiver is through a digital audio cable. Both a digital coaxial cable or Toslink optical audio cable will work great for crisp high quality audio. Just make sure your laptop has either a digital coaxial or an optical audio output. Some laptops use the headphone jack to double as a digital coaxial (S/PDIF) output. If you use this method, your going to need a 3.5mm to RCA adapter with a digital coaxial cable. If your laptop has none of these outputs and you still really want that high quality sound. Don’t worry! You can still get an external (USB) sound card that has digital coaxial out or optical out. I recommend the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 SB1090 with Toslink Optical audio out.
Another way, which won’t require any add-ons, is to use the headphone (3.5mm) jack on your laptop to the RCA (red and white) inputs on your TV or receiver. To do this, all you need is a 3.5mm to 2 RCA adapter with a 2 RCA audio cable.

I know all of these cables can seem confusing to you. If you’re having trouble finding out what each cable looks like or find out more about a cable, check out the Cable Guide at CableTrain.com. All of these cables are available for you on our website as well. I hope you can now successfully connect your laptop to the TV in the best way possible!
